Saitobaru Burial Mound Course
Saito is the city of burial mounds. The Saitobaru Burial Mounds are designated as a Special Historic Site of Japan, a location with over 300 burial graves and majestic scenery. The total area covered is 2.6km east-west and 4.2km north-south, an area of land that is 230 times the size of the Tokyo Dome.
The "central point" of the burial mounds are the Osahotsu Mound and Mesaho Mound. Every year, bicycle races are held utilizing the roads that run around the burial mounds. The course is mostly flat, there are some technical curves which make it a course that both beginners and advanced riders can enjoy.
Iizuka-Nogata Bicycle Path
A General Prefectural Road, the Iizuka-Nogata Bicycle Path is a 12.8km bicycling and pedestrian road that starts at Shintateiwa in Iizuka City, specifically at Japan National Route 201 (Shin-iizuka-bashi). It ends at the Tagawa-Nogata Line (Kanroku-bashi). To preserve safe bicycle transport and help foster growth of both body and mind, it was maintenanced from 1971 to 1978.
This bike course traverses the Onga River's riverbed, connecting Iizuka City ~ Kotake-cho ~ Nogata City. Many people come here to enjoy the seasonal scenery while cycling, walking, jogging, and more.
Kumagawa River Cycling Road
The "Kumagawa Cycling Road" runs from Hitoyoshi City to Yunomae-cho.
It is a bicycle-exclusive road that you can ride at your own leisure while you enjoy the flow of the Kumagawa River and the seasonal scenery.
Aya Miyazaki Cycling Route
This is a cycling road that runs to the Aya Cycling Terminal.
As you ride along it, you can enjoy the peaceful Oyodo River which stretches a distance of 25.6km from Kitamata, Aya, Higashimorokata District to Matsubase, Miyazaki City . The road is flat and paved, and the roadway is clearly distinguished from the bike path, so you can enjoy riding comfortably and safely.
Nogata-Kitakyushu Bicycle Path & Onga-Munakata Bicycle Path
Starting in Mizohori, Nogata City and ending in Anya, Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City, the General Prefectural Road Nogata-Kitakyushu Bicycle Path is a 34.6km bicycle and pedestrian road.
There's also the General Prefectural Road Onga-Munakata Bicycle Path, which is a 33.9km bicycle and pedestrian road that starts in Onga-cho, Onga City and ends in Taguma, Munakata City.
These two bicycle paths have been maintained since 1984 to ensure safe bicycle transit and help foster the sound development of mind and body.
This bike path traverses the Onga River's riverbed, connecting Ashiya-cho ~ Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City, as well as Ashiya-cho ~ Munakata City.
Because it is possible to enjoy a variety of seasonal scenery along the bike path, this path is used by many people for cycling, walking, jogging, and more.
Hirado Cycling Course
On this cycling course you can savor the beautiful island scenery while also appreciating the history of this area, which prospered as the first Western trade port in Japan.
Yuuka Family Road
The "Yuuka Family Road" is a bicycling route which connects Kumamoto City and Yamaga City.
This road utilizes an old railroad track, where you can enjoy riding slowly at your own pace.
Along the railway line, you will see various items of modern historical heritage.
If you enjoy cycling, be sure to go sightseeing in Yamaga. The old-fashioned townscape is a must-see. Refresh yourself in the hot springs before you come back home.
Shiokaze Sawayaka Seaside Course
Time required: 4 hours (Including time at Takasakiyama Nature Zoo and Umitamago Aquarium.) This course offers beautiful views of Beppu Bay. The bicycle/pedestrian path runs along the seaside Japan National Route 10; it is flat, wide, and safe so it is recommended for a wide range of age groups.
Exciting Cycling in Kushima A Course
At the southern tip of the southern country Miyazaki Prefecture, courses have been prepared so you can enjoy the nature-rich "Kushima City"! There's the "guts course" which is aimed at advanced-level cyclists, traveling through the mountains and oceans of Kushima's majestic wilderness. You can enjoy sightseeing locations in Kushima such as Cape Toi and the Akaike Ravine.
Also, for beginners who want to safely enjoy Kushima, there's the easy B Course (30km).
Sansan Tomie Cycling Road
A course that covers a total distance of 16km, stretching 8km along the coast of the Tomie Peninsula, all the way to Kanjigashiro Castle, the former base of Japanese pirates in the Middle ages. It then continues another 8km to Kasayamadake Lighthouse at the western tip of the island. You can enjoy whichever course suits your skill level.
Also, around 5.2km of the course is specially equipped for cycling, so even children can safely enjoy viewing the East China Sea while biking.
