The Jojima Sake Festival and Brewery Hopping Event is held at the main event grounds as well as at eight different breweries, which you are free to visit in any order you like. Today we went to check out the main event grounds as well as four different breweries.

①Main Event Grounds(Chomin no mori) 764 Jojima-machi Naratsu, Kurume City

The main attraction here is the sake tasting. First, purchase your drink tickets, ochoko (small sake cup), and masu (square-shaped box for drinking sake). You can get a set of 12 drink tickets and one ochoko for 600JPY (*700JPY in 2019). Each tasting costs anywhere from one to three tickets.

Don’t forget to drink plenty of water in between tastings so that you do not get drunk too fast!

Remember to pace yourself as there is a wide variety of types of sakes available to taste! If you tell the event staff your preferences they will be happy to help recommend the right sake for you as well. You can also enjoy your sake while snacking on some of the local culinary offerings available.
