Jojima Sake Festival and Brewery Hopping 2019 / Asahi kiku《4/5》

The biggest annual sake event in all of Kyushu, the Jojima Sake Festival & Brewery Hopping 2019 will be held in the city of Kurume in Fukuoka Prefecture on the weekend of February 16-17.
In order to give you a better idea of what this event is all about and what it has to offer, below is a look at last year’s (2018) event.

We hopped on the shuttle bus once again to head to Asahi kiku shuzo.
Amidst the wide variety of types of sake currently on the market, this brewery continues to craft its traditional sake with an old-fashioned taste that has withstood the test of time uninfluenced by popular trends in sake making since its founding in the year 1900.
The bar’s favorite is its warm sake (each cup is warmed with hot water individually), as this happens to be how the brewery itself recommends enjoying its sake. You might also want to purchase a bottle of your liking and prepare some warm sake at home as well!
In addition to the sake, this brewery is also famous for its sake kasu champon (soup made using lees left over from the sake production process) but unfortunately it was sold out by the time we got there. I definitely want to give it a try next year, though!
