Oishii Island Kyushu

Rapport between people

The people of Kyushu are oftentimes described as open-minded, optimistic and sociable. If you go to a market or street stall, you will be soothed by the amiability and warmth that flows amongst the locals. Conversations about “What is currently in season”, “Local tastes” and “Ways to eat that make food taste delicious” even in eating situations delight those savoring the food. A rapport arises not only from producers, distributors, chefs and salespeople, but also from those who happen to be there, as well as locals and tourists, and this rapport extends across all ages. It is this very rapport that is the reason behind Kyushu’s foods being “Oishii.”
